The "BioMod research group" concentrates its work on the study of neural (cortical) structures and functioning by biologically adequate neural modelling. Recent discussions in the field of cognitive and neurosciences indicate that there still remains a lack of knowledge concerning cognitive mechanisms underlying observable behaviour, despite the indisputable progress of research methods, e.g. PET and MRI. Biologically adequate modelling may not be seen as "another" alternative in exploring mental, cognitive and neural behaviour, but rather as an important new way of scientific research in the field of neurosciences.
