Guenter Kochendoerfer: Gedaechtnisformen in neuronalen Modellen der Sprachverarbeitung [Types of memory in neural models of language processing]. Tuebingen: Narr 1999.

This book attempts to make clear hypotheses concerning different types of memory, on the background of elementary principles about possible neural processes in the brain and the consequences obtained for linguistic processing. The developed framwork points out that currently existing differentiations of memory types, e.g. long-term and short-term memory or declarative and procedural memory, have to be reinterpreted to meet observable empirical data as well as neural principles. This is the first well functioning attempt that is based on biologically realistic simulation models ever proposed.

The aim of this book is to offer new insights and concepts to the discussion of memory phenomena. Thus, the book should also be of great interest for other fields different to cognitive sciences.
