This publication is an introduction to the currently most comprehensive attempt in bridging the gap between knowledge of biological properties of the brain and linguistic observations about human language capacities via simulation experiments. The pattern of discussed subjects starts with explanations of lexical and syntactic structures, basic problems of semantics and elementary processes of language acquisition, ending up in an explanation of the constitution of memory traces.

The enclosed CD-ROM includes the complete copy of the texts in the book with coloured pictures, and hyperlinks to all of the almost 60 simulations. Furthermore the CD-ROM contains the simulation-software with all files necessary to watch, modify and expand the given simulations and to construct new simulation experiments.
