All projects currently supportet by the BioMod-Group aim to discover phenoma (mostly from the field of linguistics) by trying to simulate neural structures.

The most important principle, that qualifies the validity of the simulations is the principle of "precisability". This means that our models of linguistic processes must by definition be totally compatible with the actual knowledge in the fields of biology and medicine, whatever level of abstraction one may choose for comparison, even concerning single neurons and smaller intracellular structures and functions.

We expect, that this level of "biological adequacy", that not only lets us predict cognitive behaviour but aims to represent real functioning of the brain, will produce interesting new insights for researchers in the fields involved and will even have consequences concerning diagnosis and therapy of different brain-pathologies.
